Ingredients: 1 cup white granulated sugar 4 cups water
Boil 4 cups of water to remove impurities. Stir in 1 cup sugar until fully dissolved. Let the mixture cool to room temperature.
Avoid using honey, artificial sweeteners, or food coloring, as these can be harmful to hummingbirds. Stick to plain sugar and water.
Fill clean hummingbird feeders with the cooled nectar. Use only what’s needed and store the rest in the fridge for up to a week.
Hang feeders in shady areas to slow fermentation. Change the nectar every 2–3 days, or daily in hot weather, to keep it fresh and safe.
Clean feeders with hot water (no soap) every time you refill to prevent mold and bacteria that can harm the hummingbirds.
