– 4 cups cubed day-old bread – 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries – 2 cups milk – 3 eggs – ½ cup sugar – 2 tbsp lemon zest – ¼ cup lemon juice – 1 tsp vanilla extract – 2 tbsp melted butter – Powdered sugar (optional, for topping)
Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a baking dish and place the bread cubes evenly inside. Sprinkle blueberries over the top.
In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, sugar, lemon zest, lemon juice, vanilla, and melted butter until smooth and well blended.
Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread and blueberries. Press gently to soak all pieces. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center is set. A knife inserted should come out clean.
Cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with lemon glaze for extra zing. Tastes great warm or chilled! 4o
